Alberta Professional Development Funding for Early Childhood Educators

Alberta’s Professional Development (PD) Funding program provides financial support to eligible Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) who want to enhance their skills, advance their careers, and strengthen the quality of early learning and childcare programs across the province.

This funding helps reduce financial barriers by covering approved professional development activities that support ongoing learning and certification.

Eligible ECEs can use PD funding for workshops, conferences, post-secondary courses, and learning materials that build competencies in early childhood education, leadership, administration, and behaviour guidance. With up to $2,000 per year available, PD funding makes it easier for educators to pursue meaningful professional growth while continuing to support children, families, and communities.

How PD Funding Supports Professional Growth in Early Learning

Professional development plays a critical role in supporting inclusive, responsive, and high-quality early learning environments. By accessing Alberta PD funding, Early Childhood Educators can stay current with best practices, strengthen classroom management skills, and gain practical tools that can be applied directly in their daily work. Investing in professional development not only supports educator confidence and retention, but also contributes to positive outcomes for children in early learning and childcare settings.
