Finding Employment at Columbia

While we do not have any open positions at this time, we are always interested in connecting with talented, dedicated, and sincere individuals who are passionate about supporting adult learners and helping students achieve future success.

We invite individuals who are interested in future opportunities with Columbia College to submit their resume for consideration. We will keep resumes on file and may reach out when a position becomes available that aligns with your experience and qualifications.

To submit your resume, please email it to careers@columbia.ca.

Every decision we make is made in the long-term, best interest of our students as future working professionals. We believe that only when our students succeed, do we succeed. As a result of the commitment of each staff and faculty member to each student, Columbia’s graduates have consistently achieved some of the best outcomes of any college or university in Canada.

We are extremely proud of this and look forward to connecting with individuals who share our passion for helping students achieve even greater success.

Volunteer Opportunities

Do you like helping others? Do you want to make an impact on the lives of students, newcomers, and new Canadians?

Become a volunteer for the Language and Foundational Skills Department at Columbia College! You will meet English language learners from various cultures and backgrounds, and you can help them gain the language and foundational skills they need to become active members of our vibrant community.

As a volunteer classroom assistant, you will play an important role in providing extra support for our adult language learners in their classes. Our classes are offered in a hybrid format, so you may assist in an online or onsite setting. You will assist with various language learning tasks (such as reading comprehension, writing and grammar practice, conversation practice) as assigned by the class facilitators. You may also help students practice and build their computer skills. Your valuable contributions will allow our learners to receive the additional support they need in their learning.

Volunteer Requirements

The following are required for volunteers:

  • must be 18 years old or older
  • must have strong communication skills and clear speech
  • must have a good understanding of English grammar and Canadian culture, and sensitivity to other cultures
  • must have basic computer skills (you may need to assist students with basic digital literacy skills)
  • must be available for a minimum of 2 hours per week from Monday to Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for a minimum of three months

All volunteers are also required to submit a completed volunteer application form and resume, attend an interview and undergo background reference checks. If successful, you will attend a short orientation before starting. During the orientation, we will introduce the college and program and share some information related to working with adult language learners.
