Columbia College, situated in the heart of Southern Alberta, acknowledges and honours the traditional territories of the Treaty 7 peoples. These include the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot Confederacy), which comprises the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai First Nations, the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda — specifically the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations. Additionally, the City of Calgary, known traditionally as Moh’kins’tsis, is home to the Métis Nation of Alberta (Districts 5 & 6). We pay our respects to the history, languages, ceremonies, and cultures of the First Nations, Métis, and Inuit who call this territory home. As an institution, we recognize our role in utilizing this land to educate adults, aiming for a brighter future for everyone.
