OR: Successful completion of an Alberta Education English Language Arts course that is consistent with the specified academic admission requirements for the program

Note: Students who submit transcripts to meet the English Language Proficiency requirement may still be required to write the Academic Assessment Test as a result of reviewing their admissions file and a formal interview with the Program Manager.

Candidates where English is not thier first language must meet the English Language Proficiency requirement in addition to the Academic English Language Arts (ELA)  requirement. Equivalencies are as follows:

• By presenting a Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC) or a Canadian High School Equivalency Diploma (GED), or
• By attending high school in Canada. Studies must have been in English at an approved Canadian high school (grades 9, 10, 11, 12) with at least three consecutive years of full-time academic study; or
• Providing evidence of attending two consecutive years of full-time equivalent post-secondary study in English in a subject other than an HCA program at a Canadian institution; or
• By completing an Approved ELP Test with the required Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB): A minimum CLB of 7 in each of the 4 language skills (speaking, listening, reading, and writing) and not an average of 7.

OR: Transcripts demonstrating successful completion of an equivalent Math course in a College Prep or Academic Upgrading program from a recognized and accredited institution

OR: Credit obtained for an Anatomy and Physiology, Biology, or Medical Terminology course at a post-secondary accredited institution (may be through Columbia’s College Prep program)

* In some circumstances, students may be conditionally admitted into the Practical Nurse program provided they successfully complete CPNP102 within their first two semesters.
