This course is designed to effectively equip students with the necessary test practice strategies and skills needed to excel in both the Academic and General Training modules of the IELTS exam. With equal emphasis on reading, writing, listening, speaking, and test-taking strategies, our course ensures a well-rounded preparation. Additionally, each day we delve into sub skills such as academic vocabulary, academic style, and study skills to further enhance your performance.
Course Highlights
- Cost: $1,980 per semester (plus $85 textbook)

- Class Schedule: Mon - Thurs (6:00 – 9:00pm)

Delivery: Online
- Classes are taught through Microsoft Teams. Our well-trained and experienced staff will provide training and support to students who require additional assistance with online language training.
- The IELTS Prep course features weekly practice exams to monitor progress and offer instant feedback for improvement.
- At the end of the semester, each student receives a report highlighting two strengths and two areas for improvement.
- A certificate of completion with attendance percentage is awarded by the College (90% attendance is expected).
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Recognize their strengths and weaknesses in speaking, reading, listening and writing.
- Recognize and overcome challenges presented in taking the IELTS exam.
- Write different academic essay types.
- Evaluate and self-correct their speaking.
- Be prepared for the mechanics of the IELTS examination (time, order, format).
- Skim, scan and focus on target material in academic reading passages texts.
- Interpret and describe statistical data using appropriate language and grammar.
- Demonstrate/utilize enhanced vocabulary in writing and speaking -formulate, express and defend opinions using appropriate vocabulary.
- Demonstrate improved listening skills for comprehension and catching details.
All prospective students must take a Columbia College Canadian Language Benchmarks placement test, or provide evidence of achieved CLBs from an assessment centre, a LINC or EAL program, taken within the last year, and must demonstrate that they have completed a minimum of CLB 6 in each language skill (listening, speaking, reading, and writing).
